side effects

  • Most Common: Dizziness, cough, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, chest pain, low blood pressure, shortness of breath, diarrhea, headache, muscle pain, rash, and back pain
  • General: Discomfort, viral infections, and anaphylactoid reactions
  • Heart: Palpitations, blood vessel dilation, rapid heart rate, heart failure, heart attack, stroke, chest pain, high or low blood pressure, and abnormal heart rhythm
  • Blood: Anemia
  • Gastrointestinal: Gas, dry mouth/throat, constipation, gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreatitis, liver function abnormalities, and indigestion
  • Central Nervous System: Drowsiness, fainting, nervousness, depression, insomnia, and tingling sensations
  • Skin: Hair loss, increased sweating, itching, skin inflammation, photosensitivity, and rash.
  • Genitourinary: Urinary tract infection, erectile dysfunction, and kidney failure.
  • Respiratory: Eosinophilia and lung infections.
  • Miscellaneous: Blurred vision, fluid retention, joint pain, liver inflammation, and decreased platelet count

dosage

For adults:

  • Hypertension: Begin with 10 or 20 mg orally once daily. Dosage adjustments may be made as necessary.
  • Congestive Heart Failure: Start with 5 mg orally twice daily. Maintenance doses typically range from 10 to 20 mg orally twice daily.

how to take

It’s administered orally as a tablet. Take it on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.

  • Use with caution in patients with a history of diabetes, heart disease, vascular issues, poor circulation, bone marrow depression, kidney or liver problems, stroke, recent heart attack, kidney transplant, autoimmune disorders, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, allergies, those on other medications, during pregnancy, and while breastfeeding
  • This medication may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Refrain from driving or operating machinery
  • Avoid alcohol consumption
  • Be vigilant for angioedema, a severe allergic reaction, characterized by swelling of the hands, face, lips, eyes, throat, or tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing; or hoarseness. Consult your doctor if these symptoms occur
  • Minimize sun exposure to prevent sunburn
  • Avoid contact with individuals who have infections
  • Regularly monitor blood pressure, electrolyte levels, heart function, blood sugar, kidney and liver function while using this medication
